ERHU PLAYER, KATHY YANG, VISITS EL SISTEMA LEHIGH VALLEY

El Sistema Lehigh Valley was incredibly fortunate to have had Cathy Yang perform for us and talk to our students on February 6th, 2020. Cathy Yang is an internationally acclaimed artist whose specialty is the Erhu. She has toured all over the world, and has won several competitions including first prize at the LONG YIN Instrumental Soloist Competition in 1999. Yang was recently featured in two pieces put on during the Allentown Symphony Orchestra’s “Sounds of Cinema” concert. On her visit to our program, she graciously previewed this music from the concert for our students, answered our students MANY questions about her unique instrument, as well as guided a selected handful of students to try her Erhu out for themselves!
